Akij Takaful and City Bank Forge Groundbreaking Bancassurance Partnership

Akij Takaful Life Insurance PLC and City Bank PLC have recently established a groundbreaking bancassurance partnership, signified by a formal agreement signed at the Akij Takaful headquarters in the upscale Gulshan area. This strategic alliance was officiated by high-ranking officials from both organizations, including Mohammad Masuduzzaman Khan, DMD and Chief Corporate Business Officer of Akij Takaful, and Md. Ashanur Rahman, Chief Economist and Country Business Manager of City Bank.

The event was marked by the presence of distinguished guests such as Sk. Shamim Uddin, Chairman of Akij Takaful, and Sheikh Mohammad Maroof, Additional Managing Director and Chief Business Officer of City Bank, underscored the collaborative efforts of both parties.

This partnership between two of Bangladesh’s financial services leaders is poised to transform the bancassurance landscape. By merging the banking services of City Bank with the Shariah-compliant life insurance solutions from Akij Takaful, this alliance promises to enrich the financial well-being and security of City Bank’s customers. The agreement aligns with the regulatory frameworks established by Bangladesh Bank and the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority, ensuring that the services provided are both innovative and secure.

Attendees at the signing ceremony included a host of senior executives from both firms. From Akij Takaful, the attendees included Sheikh Jasim Uddin and Mir Mahfuzur Rahman, both Directors; Muhammad Fuad Hussain and Sazmin Sultana, also Directors; Asifur Rahman, FCA, Independent Director; Mohammed Alamgir Chowdhury, CEO (CC); Abdus Salam Khondoker, Head of Accounts; Md. Moheuddin, Head of Underwriting, Claims & Policy Service; and Kamruzzaman, AVP- Bancassurance. Representing City Bank were Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, Additional Managing Director and CFO; Mahia Juned, Additional Managing Director and COO; Arup Haider, Head of Retail Banking; and Subir Kumar Kundu, Chief Bancassurance Officer.
