KEPALA BATAS, Malaysia: Bumiputera entrepreneurs are urged to venture into the Halal industry and take calculated risks to innovate new products and services. The chairman of the committee for the development of Bumiputera entrepreneurs and cooperatives in Penang, Muhamad Farid, has urged Bumiputera business professionals in Malaysia to produce more halal food products. In doing so, they can meet the needs of the Muslim community and help fuel the country’s economy. Muhamad Farid believes that small-medium enterprises can play a major role in increasing the production and marketing of these products, with the assistance of joint ventures.
Muhamad Farid recently spoke to news reporters after officiating the Penang Bumiputera Entrepreneurs (PenBEX) Mini Carnival 2015 at Vision Park, Bertram. The event was organized by Kunang and is an initial step toward the PenBEX from 30th May to June 7, 2015. During the interview, he revealed that about 70 business owners were under the patronage of Kunang and some of their products were being marketed at three branches of the Aeon Big supermarket at Bukit Minyak, Seberang Jaya, and Alor Setar, Kedah. Muhamad Farid praised the accomplishment of the business owners under Kunang’s patronage and expressed his intent to revive a big shopping plaza in North Seberang Perai to enable members’ products to be marketed more methodically. These facilities will be the first step in helping them to increase their business and improve the production of local products.
According to Muhamad Farid, halal products can play a significant role in increasing the income of business owners and providing consumers with a wider range of halal products. This can ultimately contribute to the growth of the halal industry in Malaysia. By encouraging Bumiputera entrepreneurs to produce more halal food products, the Muslim community’s needs can be met while also boosting the country’s economy.
