Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB), the largest Islamic bank in the UAE, will participate in the 17th session of Careers UAE, the leading national platform for both job seekers and employers in the country, being held from 9to 11 April, 2017. The bank’s participation in the event is aligned with its unwavering dedication to empowering UAE nationals across the country, whilst simultaneously supporting DIB’s vision to ultimately drive the development of Islamic finance via the next generation of leaders for the sector.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Careers UAE will focus on supporting Emirati youth identify the appropriate career choices and attract talented participants looking to join leading UAE-based organisations.
Commenting on the Bank’s participation at the event, Obaid Al Shamsi, Chief of Human Resources and Administration at Dubai Islamic Bank, said: “Emiratisation has been a key part of the Bank’s long-term strategy and we continue to focus our efforts on the development of young local talent. DIB is the 4thlargest bank in UAE and a leading player in the Islamic finance space in the region. Given our position, we are always searching for talented individuals who are ready to challenge themselves whilst working for an outstanding organisation where the individual’s career ambitions and the bank’s strategic goals are fully aligned.
Mr Al Shamsi added; “DIB is fully committed to the UAE’s vision to make Dubai the global Islamic banking and finance hub and we strongly feel that training and developing young Emiratis through industry leading training programmes such as those at DIB will play a critical role here. Hence, participation in Careers UAE is a top priority for us as we continue to attract the best local talent, and support the sustainable development of Islamic finance in the country.”
In 2016, DIB’s Emiratisation ratio reached 44%, close to half of its total employees. Its efforts to attract, retain and develop Emirati talent are also in line with the Dubai Plan 2021 and the seven-year National Agenda, which is to increase the number of Emiratis working in the public and private sector by tenfold.
Earlier this year, Dubai Islamic Bank was recognised as one of the key players in the banking industry through the “Human Resources Development Award” at the Sharjah National Career Exhibition, responsible for empowering the youth of the UAE and fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment for nationals within the Bank. The Bank is determined to promote Islamic banking as a top choice for Emiratis and prepare national talent to take decision-making roles within the institution. DIB’s HR initiatives include several Emirati specific programs such as the Masaar Program, Talaam Program, Emarati Program and High Potential Employee Program to support the development of the local community.
