A French Mayor Sparks Fury On Halal Slaughtering

Hayange, France:—Mayor FN Hayange Fabien Engelmann attacks a Halal butcher due to the fact that he did not want trade by Muslims on Sundays, and it attracts lot more customers than usual, the exact opposite of what he wanted. He wanted the immediate closure of the halal butcher shop in question. 

According to France Info TV, the mayor sent a letter to the slaughter Larabi in June, ordering him to close on Sundays. Indeed, Fabien Engelmann writes that  Mayor FN, determined to close the slaughter on Sunday said: “the police found the opening of  your slaughter Sunday, May 25 at 15hour. I remind you that in Alsace -Moselle, Article 146 of the Law of 26^th  July 1900 is still effective. The opening of shops on Sundays is prohibited. “

Fabien Engelmann tried the slaughter Larabi be closed on Sunday, threatening the halal butcher him prepare a report that will be “sent to the Police Court for prosecution.“ On the other hand, the  butcher says his business has never been open for business on Sunday afternoon, something his lawyer clearly narrated.

Then Fabien Engelmann said the butcher will be open Sunday morning for up to five hours. A decision that clearly shows an aftertaste of bitterness since the mayor FN told France TV info: “I am against ritual slaughter. There are shops that do not have to stay open on Sundays”. The problem of Fabien Engelmann therefore, extends far beyond simply opening a halal butcher shop on Sundays: he is against the ritual slaughter due to his personal beliefs. It means the community will have to act upon what the Mayor wants.  

Notably recall that Fabien Engelmann calls Islam “Mohammedan dogma very offensive, harmful to democracy, women’s rights and our liberties.” Last Sunday, the mayor FN has also organized a “pig festival,” probably the largest attempt provocation addressed to the Muslim community living peacefully in the country. On the occasion of his “pig festival,” he fondly nicknamed (and rightly) the pig “our friend.” Is it not a Portuguese proverb: “Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are”?
