Jeddah– Hundreds of pilgrims in the capital and in Jeddah benefited from a Haj orientation program held separately in the two cities last week. Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi and Abdur Rahman Umari have been organizing the orientation programs for several years now wherein they lecture on different aspects of the pilgrimage and the correct way of performing all Haj rituals.
Through the use of projector and slides, Qasmi and Umari explain the salient features of different Haj rituals. In Riyadh, the event was held on Sept. 26 and after the project presentation one hour was dedicated to a question-and-answer session where important questions were raised on different Haj-related issues.
Dr. Musharraf Ali gave some useful medical instructions to the pilgrims. In Jeddah, Khak-e-Taiba Trust also organized a similar program on Sept. 27 in which Qasmi presented his Haj orientation program through a projector.
Mufti Ziauddeen Naqshbandi from Jamia Nizamia (Hyderabad) gave a lecture on the virtues of Haj and drew attention of the participants to a Qur’anic verse urging them to show patience and good manners during Haj.
Dr. Aleem Khan Falaki, convener of the program, said in his lecture that Haj should be performed with halal income (money earned through legal ways) because Haj is obligatory for a Muslim only once in his life and it should be free of haram (illegal) income. Qasmi’s two videos “How to perform Umrah” and “How to perform Haj” can be seen on YouTube and his website (www.najeebqasmi.com).
