While addressing a gathering of provincial governors and ministry officials in Yala, Chalermchai outlined the four-point plan for the border provinces:
- Increasing production of agricultural goods and halal food for both local consumption and export to other Muslim countries.

In addition, Chalermchai stated that his ministry would collaborate with the Commerce Ministry to lead the charge in promoting halal products domestically, internationally, and across international borders.
According to Chalermchai, the Commerce Ministry has already begun preparing for a revival of commerce with Saudi Arabia. In addition, a Thai Chamber of Commerce has been set up there to help promote the export of halal goods from Thailand to Muslim-majority states in the Middle East.
As there are over 2 billion Muslims in the world, the halal food industry is ripe for the picking. In the supply of halal food to this massive market, we will advocate for the five southern border provinces. It will occur to become food secure and one of the world’s important halal kitchens.
