ADIFE 2023: Leading the Charge in Food Sustainability and Innovation

ADIFE 2023: Leading the Charge in Food Sustainability and Innovation
2023-11-26 by Hafiz M. Ahmed

Under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, the upcoming Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition (ADIFE) is poised to be a pivotal event in the global food industry. Organized by Capital Events, a subsidiary of ADNEC Group, in strategic collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), the exhibition will unfold from November 27 to 29 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

This second iteration of ADIFE will feature a stellar lineup of international experts, delving into key topics such as food sustainability, resilience in food systems, and the business and investment aspects of the food sector. The event promises to be a hub of innovative ideas and forward-thinking strategies.

Day One will kick off with a significant panel on ‘Building Sustainable Food Networks: UAE’s Blueprint for Resilient Ecosystems’. Saleh Lootah, Chairman of the UAE Food & Beverage Manufacturing Group, will inaugurate the session, focusing on sustainable food ecosystems, collaborative efforts among stakeholders, and the impact of public-private partnerships in food sector development. A notable highlight will be the ‘Food Loss Pledge Signing’, a commitment to reducing food waste, endorsed by industry leaders and government officials.

The second day will feature a panel on ‘Public-Private Partnership on Improve Competitiveness & Regulatory Affairs’. It will start with a discussion between H.E Dr. Farah Ali Al Zarooni and Dr Suzanne Baaghil, followed by insights from other experts. The day will also include discussions on agriculture practices and promoting local consumption by Dr Afra Al Dhaheri and Dr Ahmed Fawaz Atoom of ADAFSA.

The final day’s highlight is a session on ‘Funding and Investment Opportunities in the Agri-Food Sector’, showcasing a study on food consumption in Abu Dhabi by Dr Hanan Afifi and a presentation by Amna Al Sabaa on ADAFSA’s investment opportunities.

Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Group CEO of ADNEC, emphasized the exhibition’s role in highlighting future trends in the food sector and aligning with the UAE’s food security strategy. He also lauded ADNEC’s commitment to delivering top-notch facilities and services, enhancing Abu Dhabi’s status as a premier business and tourism hub.

ADIFE will also coincide with the ninth Abu Dhabi Date Palm Exhibition, a joint venture by Capital Events and the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation. This side event is set to connect buyers and suppliers in the date palm sector.

In addition to these insightful sessions, ADIFE will host various activities, workshops, and global competitions focusing on food production, hospitality, and innovative technologies. The event is a testament to the UAE’s leadership in the global food industry and its commitment to innovation and sustainability.
