The values-based investing startup has set up in the San Francisco Bay Area as it moves to serve the US market directly.
SAN FRANCISCO, October 2026 — Akinda, a stock research platform that helps investors find companies matching their faith and values, is expanding into the United States. Founder and CEO Nurmukhammad Ismoilov has moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to lead the company’s US growth.
The move puts Akinda at the center of the world’s largest retail investing market. Millions of Americans now buy stocks through apps on their phones. Yet investors who want to follow Islamic finance principles, or simply avoid industries that conflict with their values, still have few simple tools to check what they own.
“The US is where retail investing is most active, and it’s where the demand for values-based tools is growing fastest,” Ismoilov says. “We came here to be close to our users, our partners and the investors who understand this market.”
Built for investors who care what they own
Akinda’s Shariah-compliant stock screener checks more than 15,000 stocks listed in the US, Canada and the UK. Each stock is reviewed against AAOIFI Shariah Standard No. 21, the most widely used benchmark in Islamic finance. Users get a clear result for every company, along with the reasons behind it.
Akinda also includes tools for dividend purification, so investors can calculate how much of their income to donate. Users can connect the broker accounts they already use, such as Robinhood, Webull, Charles Schwab and Trading212, and screen their whole portfolio in one place.
Growth without paid ads
Akinda has grown entirely through search and content, with no paid advertising. The platform has around 10,000 registered users and about 20,000 monthly visitors. Its users are spread across the US, UK, Canada, South Korea, Central Asia and the Middle East.
The company also sells its Shariah screening technology to other businesses through an API. Its business clients include a company in Texas, giving Akinda an existing foothold in the US before the expansion.
Joining the Bay Area startup scene
In the Bay Area, Akinda is part of the Alchemist & Silkroad Innovation Residency, which brings international founders to Silicon Valley. Ismoilov also attended TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 in San Francisco, one of the largest startup events in the world.

The company has previously been supported by Plug and Play, Alchemist Accelerator, Astana Hub and IT Park Uzbekistan, and has received a Google for Startups grant.
Next: from research to investing
Akinda’s next step in the US is closing the gap between research and action. The company is in partnership talks with US brokerage firms, with the goal of letting users screen a stock and invest in it without leaving the platform.
“Today, an investor finds a halal stock on Akinda and then has to go somewhere else to buy it,” Ismoilov says. “We want that to be one smooth step. That’s what American investors expect, and that’s what we’re building.”
