Australia to Host Its First International Halal Expo: A New Gateway for Global Halal Trade

2026-08-06 by Dr. Bekim Hasani

For many years, Australia has quietly earned a reputation as one of the world’s most trusted producers of premium halal food and agricultural products. Australian beef, lamb, dairy, grains, pharmaceuticals and processed foods are exported to millions of consumers across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa and beyond.

Yet despite Australia’s strong position as a halal exporter, there has never been a dedicated international halal exhibition bringing together the global halal industry on Australian soil.

That is about to change.

From 27–29 November 2026, Melbourne will host the Australia & New Zealand Halal Expo 2026, the first international event of its kind in the country. More than just another trade exhibition, the Expo has been created as a platform to build lasting partnerships between Australian businesses and the rapidly growing global halal economy.

More Than an Expo

The halal industry today is no longer limited to food production. It has become one of the world’s fastest-growing economic sectors, encompassing food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, logistics, Islamic finance, tourism, education, technology, agriculture and manufacturing.

The Australia & New Zealand Halal Expo has been designed to reflect this diversity by bringing together businesses, governments, certification bodies, investors, academics and community leaders under one roof.

Visitors can expect three days of international exhibitions, business networking, conferences, cultural showcases and investment opportunities aimed at creating meaningful commercial relationships between Australia and the rest of the world.

Why Australia?

Australia enjoys a global reputation for quality, food safety, strict regulatory standards and reliable exports. These strengths have made Australian products highly sought after across Muslim-majority markets.

With increasing demand for premium halal-certified products, Australia is uniquely positioned to strengthen its role as a global supplier while welcoming international businesses seeking reliable partners and investment opportunities.

The Expo seeks to become the meeting place where Australian producers connect directly with buyers, distributors and investors from every corner of the world.

A Truly International Gathering

The Australia & New Zealand Halal Expo is expected to welcome:

  • More than 10,000 visitors
  • 50+ exhibitors
  • Delegations from 10+ countries
  • More than 20 Australian and international speakers
  • Government representatives
  • Ambassadors and diplomatic missions
  • International trade organisations
  • Halal certification bodies
  • Manufacturers
  • Exporters
  • Importers
  • Investors
  • Retailers
  • Universities and research institutions

International delegations are already being engaged across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe and Africa, reflecting the Expo’s vision of becoming a bridge between Australia and the global halal marketplace.

A Platform for Business and Partnership

One of the Expo’s key objectives is to facilitate genuine business outcomes.

Dedicated B2B matchmaking sessions will enable Australian companies to meet international buyers, while seminars and panel discussions will focus on market access, halal certification, export opportunities, innovation and investment.

The event also provides governments and trade agencies with an opportunity to strengthen economic cooperation and promote bilateral trade.

Celebrating Islamic Heritage and Multicultural Australia

While business is at the heart of the Expo, it is equally a celebration of Australia’s multicultural identity and the positive contribution of Muslim communities.

The program will include cultural exhibitions, educational displays and presentations that showcase the richness of Islamic civilisation, encouraging greater understanding and appreciation among visitors from all backgrounds.

The Expo reflects the values of collaboration, respect and shared prosperity that underpin both Australia’s multicultural society and the global halal industry.

An Invitation to the World

Whether you are a manufacturer, exporter, importer, investor, government agency, halal certification body, financial institution, university or entrepreneur, the Australia & New Zealand Halal Expo offers an opportunity to become part of something historic.

Australia is opening its doors to the global halal industry, and we warmly invite organisations from every region of the world to join us in Melbourne this November.

Together, we can build stronger trade relationships, encourage innovation, promote ethical business practices and create new opportunities that benefit businesses, communities and consumers alike.

The Australia & New Zealand Halal Expo is more than an event—it is the beginning of a new chapter for halal trade in Australia and a gateway to new partnerships across the world.

We look forward to welcoming you to Melbourne from 27–29 November 2026.
