Bank Islam Appoints Azdini Nor Azman As CEO of BIMB Investment

Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd, in a strategic executive move, has announced the official appointment of Azdini Nor Azman as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Non-independent Executive Director of its fully owned subsidiary, BIMB Investment Management Bhd, a transition that took effect on August 1, 2023.

Azdini’s journey with BIMB Investment began earlier this year when she stepped into the role of Acting CEO on March 1, 2023. Her elevation to the permanent CEO position followed shortly after securing the green light from the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC).

Azdini’s extensive 26-year tenure in the financial sector showcases a rich tapestry of experience and leadership roles across a spectrum of reputable institutions. Her illustrious career includes stints at Asian Islamic Investment Management Sdn Bhd, Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd, CFC Seymour Limited, and MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Bhd, to name a few. Moreover, she has significantly contributed to Amanah Short Deposits Bhd and had a crucial role at Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd itself.

Before joining the ranks at BIMB Investment, Azdini was at the forefront of wholesale banking at Hong Leong Islamic Bank Bhd. In this capacity, she helmed the comprehensive wholesale operation, steering both Islamic global markets and the broader ambit of Islamic business and corporate banking.

Her financial acumen and industry-wide recognition are further solidified by her membership on the Islamic Financial Market Subcommittee under Bank Negara Malaysia for the 2022-2023 tenure.

A testament to her commitment to continuous learning and professional growth, Azdini is an alumnus of the University of Otago, New Zealand, where she earned her Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance. Beyond her academic achievements, Azdini’s credentials are further bolstered by prestigious certifications. She is a recognized Chartered Professional in Islamic Finance (CPIF) courtesy of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF). Additionally, she holds the Persatuan Pasaran Kewangan Malaysia (PPKM) Dealers’ License and the Capital Markets Services Representative’s Licence (CMSRL).
