The Mayor of London’s cherished Eid on the Square celebration is returning to Trafalgar Square on Sunday, June 8th, inviting Londoners of all backgrounds to mark Eid al-Adha. From 12 pm to 6 pm, this free, family-friendly event will transform the heart of the capital with a vibrant program of live performances, Islamic-inspired art, and diverse global cuisine.
The festivities will be hosted by Deana Soni and Haroon Rashid. The main stage will feature captivating entertainment including Nasheed artist Mesut Kurtis, the renowned Chand Ali Khan Qawwal & Group, and the Indonesian Angklung Ensemble, featuring H.E. Dr. Desra Percaya. Children’s favorites, Omar & Hana, will also be making a special appearance, available for meet-and-greets with their young fans.
Beyond the musical acts, attendees can immerse themselves in a variety of interactive workshops at the WAW Creative Arts Family Zone, including drumming, coconut leaf weaving, calligraphy, and poetry. Rumi’s Cave – Spearhead Creatives will offer an immersive tent experience with comedy, music, and creative writing.
The event will also feature a pop-up Muslim Museum of Britain and guided walking tours courtesy of Halal Tourism Britain. A bustling market area will offer books, crafts, and jewelry, while food stalls will tantalize taste buds with a range of dishes, from Afghan and Uzbek cuisine to Korean fried chicken and churros. For prayer, dedicated tents for men and women will be available on the North Terrace of Trafalgar Square, and a Quiet Zone will offer a peaceful retreat in the south-east corner.
The event is being delivered in partnership with the Eid Community Advisory Group.
