Kuala Lumpur — September 23, 2026 — The 22nd Malaysia International Halal Showcase opened today at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC), bringing together 2,000 exhibition booths from participants in 58 countries across 14 halal industry sectors.

The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) raised its sales target for MIHAS 2026 to RM5 billion from RM4.5 billion following stronger-than-expected interest from international buyers. MATRADE received more than 450 applications from international buyers and importers, exceeding its initial target of 300 buyers.

MIHAS is targeting 2,000 exhibition booths involving participants from 45 countries, with Malaysian exhibitors to account for around 70% of the total and international exhibitors making up the remaining 30%.

The event is held under the theme “Shaping Trust, Driving Resilience” and covers pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, Islamic finance, tourism, healthcare, ingredients, logistics, and other services beyond food certification.

Malaysia projects its halal market will reach roughly RM523.5 billion (US$113 billion) by 2030, with the sector expected to contribute about 11 percent of the national GDP.

MATRADE appointed ES Exhibition Sdn Bhd as the new event management company for MIHAS for a five-year term from 2026 to 2030.

MIHAS 2026 will present the debut of the Women in Export (WiEX) cluster, reflecting MATRADE’s dedication to empowering women in Halal business and ensuring their active participation in the global Halal economy.

Business Matching Programme

MATRADE will facilitate meetings between 600 Malaysian companies and 450 international buyers through its International Sourcing Programme, with around 4,000 business matching meetings expected.
