Musa Shihadeh, Former CEO and Founder of Jordan Islamic Bank, Passes Away

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Musa Shihadeh, the founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jordan Islamic Bank (JIB) and former CEO of JIB, a key figure in the Islamic banking industry and a distinguished member of the Al Baraka Banking Group. Mr. Shihadeh passed away peacefully on Thursday, leaving behind a legacy of exemplary leadership and significant contributions to the financial sector.

Mr. Shihadeh’s illustrious career began at Arab Bank, where his passion for finance and banking was first ignited. He furthered his education at the Beirut Arab University Faculty of Commerce, earning a bachelor’s degree in commerce with a specialization in accounting in 1969. His pursuit of excellence led him to the United States, where he obtained a master’s degree in business administration from the University of San Francisco in 1979.

Upon his return, Mr. Shihadeh’s visionary leadership and strategic insights played a pivotal role in transforming Jordan Islamic Bank into a leading institution in the region. His tenure as CEO was marked by significant achievements, including the bank’s expansion and the introduction of innovative Sharia-compliant financial products and services. Under his stewardship, JIB set new benchmarks in service excellence, innovation, and adherence to Shariah principles.

Throughout his career, Mr. Shihadeh was committed to ethical banking practices and financial inclusion. His dedication to community development and philanthropy was evident in his support for various charitable initiatives and educational programs. His contributions to the banking sector were recognized with numerous awards and accolades, reflecting his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Mr. Shihadeh’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations of bankers and finance professionals. He is survived by his loving family, who supported him throughout his illustrious career. In this time of sorrow, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by his remarkable life and work.
