Qatari Awqaf Ministry to Distribute 700,000 Iftar Meals During Ramadan

2024-03-04 by Hafiz M. Ahmed

In a move that underscores the spirit of community and giving, the Qatari Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs’ General Administration of Endowments has unveiled its “Iftar Saim” initiative, set to brighten the Holy Month of Ramadan 1445 AH. Announced at a press conference held at their headquarters, this ambitious campaign aims to serve up a staggering 700,000 Iftar meals across the month, providing much-needed sustenance to over 24,000 fasters daily at twenty vibrant locations, including special meal distribution points.

Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani, the driving force behind the General Administration of Endowments, shared insights into the initiative’s core mission. “The Iftar Saim campaign is more than just about feeding the fasting; it’s a testament to our commitment to fostering solidarity and support within our community during Ramadan,” he remarked, highlighting the campaign’s role in promoting social cohesion and the significant rewards fasting brings, as echoed in the Holy Hadith.

Moreover, these Iftar gatherings are envisioned as platforms for advocacy, raising awareness, and education, truly making them a feast for the body and soul.

Strategic Table Locations for Maximum Reach

Understanding the diverse needs of the community, the Administration has meticulously planned the geographic distribution of Iftar meals. Focusing on areas with high population and labor density, the chosen sites for the Ramadan tent dining experiences include:
