KUCHING: The highly anticipated Sarawak Agrofest 2024 (SAF2024) is set to run from July 12 to 22 at the Bintulu Old Airport, promising to generate RM5 million in sales and attract around 450,000 visitors, according to Datuk Seri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom, the Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development (M-FICORD).

This year’s event will feature over 200 exhibitors from diverse sectors, including agriculture, government agencies, entrepreneurs, corporate entities, and international players. The extensive lineup underscores the event’s importance as a hub for industry growth and innovation.

SAF2024 is particularly special as it coincides with the 2024 Sarawak Day celebration and marks the 100th anniversary of the Sarawak Department of Agriculture. Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, will officiate at the event on July 12, adding further prestige to the occasion.

The main goal of SAF2024 is to boost the agriculture and agro-based industry by providing a platform that attracts investors and enhances youth participation. The theme, “Enhancing Agro Sector, Empowering Community,” is in line with the broader vision of advancing the agriculture sector and rural economy by 2030 through commercialization and innovation.

SAF2024 will be a multifaceted event featuring conferences, exhibitions, sales, investment promotions, food promotions, and competitions. Key sections of the festival include the Sarawak Agrofest and DOA 100 Years Celebration Pavilion, AgroTrade, AgroFresh, AgroTech, Agrolnput, Smart Farming, Peladang e-Shop, Sarawak Aqua, Vet Zoo, and Sarawak Kitchen (Halal & Non-Halal). These sections highlight the diversity and depth of Sarawak’s agricultural sector, from traditional farming techniques to cutting-edge innovations in agro-technology.

The festival will also offer numerous opportunities for networking, business matching, and cooperation aimed at enhancing the agricultural supply and value chain. Attendees can look forward to product presentations, launches, agro-product promotions, demonstrations, competitions, the prestigious Anugerah Peladang 2024, and various entertainment activities throughout the event.

In conjunction with SAF2024, M-FICORD and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) will host the 2nd Congress on Agriculture and Food Security (COSAFS) from July 10 to 12 at the Parkcity Everly Hotel in Bintulu. This congress will serve as a critical platform for discussing the latest developments and challenges in agriculture and food security, fostering collaboration between academia and industry.

For more information, the public is encouraged to visit the official SAF2024 website at www.sarawak.agrofest.com.my or follow the event’s Facebook page at Sarawak Agrofest. These platforms will provide updates and detailed information about the event, ensuring that attendees are well-prepared to make the most of this grand showcase of Sarawak’s agricultural prowess.

SAF2024 is set to be a landmark event, reflecting Sarawak’s commitment to advancing its agricultural sector. With significant sales expected and a large turnout anticipated, this year’s Agrofest is poised to be a major driver of growth and innovation in the region. Whether you’re an investor, an entrepreneur, or simply an enthusiast of agriculture, SAF2024 promises a wealth of opportunities and insights. Don’t miss out on this chance to be part of Sarawak’s vibrant agro-community and witness firsthand the advancements shaping the future of agriculture.
