KUALA LUMPUR — The World Quran Convention 2025 will open tomorrow at Perdana Hall, MITI, bringing together scholars, economists, and community leaders from twenty countries for a two-day examination of how the teachings of Surah Al-Saff may help frame conversations about economic justice, ethical leadership, and collective resilience.
This year’s theme, “Quranic Solutions for Global Economic Challenges,” reflects a growing interest in connecting Quranic ethics with contemporary policy questions. Organizers say the aim is not only to reflect on scripture but also to consider how principles such as honesty in trade, moral responsibility, and balance in consumption might inform economic thinking at a time of global uncertainty.
The program outlines a long-term vision that places Surah Al-Saff at the center of a broader effort to build what is described as a “Quranic economic framework,” beginning with community awareness, followed by institutional strengthening, and eventually leading toward a comprehensive values-based economic model.

A Program Grounded in Scripture but Facing Today’s Realities
The opening day will feature reflections by Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan, who is expected to explore the Quranic concept of tijarah—a form of trade understood as a moral transaction rather than a purely commercial one. Sessions will look at the ethical dimensions of economic behavior, the role of justice in financial dealings, and how values such as trust and accountability might contribute to a more humane economic landscape.
Another session, “The Quran and the Global Economy,” will discuss the tension between modern market systems and the Quran’s emphasis on social wellbeing, questioning whether faith-based frameworks can offer alternative approaches to inequality, consumption, and sustainability.
A Second Day Focused on Application
The second day of the convention shifts toward applied discussions. A forum on “Tijaarah With Divine Purpose” will consider how purpose-oriented economic activity can be incorporated into entrepreneurship, investment, and leadership. A separate session on wilayah—unity and collective responsibility—will look at how cohesive institutions and principled leadership can accelerate positive outcomes.
A dedicated discussion on the halal industry will examine its potential as an ethical ecosystem rooted in integrity, trust, and responsible production. The event will conclude with a Wilayah Economy Declaration, summarizing commitments aimed at translating Quranic guidance into economic and social action.
Delegates this year come from across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America, reflecting the event’s growing international relevance. Participants from Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, Palestine, Egypt, India, Singapore, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries are expected to attend.
A Platform Evolving With Global Needs
Since its inception, the World Quran Convention has sought to encourage not only recitation but also meaningful engagement with Quranic teachings and their relevance to modern life. Each year centers on a selected surah; in 2025, the focus turns to Surah Al-Saff and its themes of unity, purpose, sincerity, and steadfastness.
As the convention opens, organizers hope the discussions will move beyond theory and toward frameworks that participants can apply within their communities and institutions. The mission, they say, is to turn revelation into action at a time when many societies are searching for values-based approaches to economic and social stability.
