Blibli in Indonesia Offers Products and Storage Services in Halal-Certified Warehouses

Blibli Provides Products And Storage Services For Halal Certified Warehouses
2024-05-03 by Aamer Yaqub

In a significant stride toward enhancing Indonesia’s halal infrastructure, Blibli, an online mall in the country, provides products and storage services for halal-certified warehouses, achieving certification for its logistics centers. This move underscores a commitment to the meticulous operational standards required in the halal ecosystem. The certification explicitly covers key logistics centers in Kramat Jati and Batu Ceper, with Blibli’s entire network adhering to stringent halal warehousing standards.

What is a Halal-Certified Warehouse?

A halal-certified warehouse is a storage facility that meets the strict standards and regulations required to handle halal products. These warehouses ensure that all stored goods are free from any contact with substances considered haram (forbidden) under Islamic law. Additionally, these facilities often undergo regular inspections and must maintain specific hygiene and processing standards to retain their certification.

Dr. Muhammad Aqil Irham, head of Indonesia’s Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH), expressed optimism about the nation’s potential to lead the global halal market. He highlighted ongoing strategic initiatives, including providing complimentary halal certification for 1 million SME products in 2023. The BPJPH has issued over 1.8 million halal certificates, a testament to its collaborative efforts with various ministries and private sectors.

“This initiative by Blibli sets a commendable example for other e-commerce and business enterprises in Indonesia,” Dr Aqil stated. “Our goal is not just to meet local demand for halal products but to dominate the global market, preventing overseas products from overshadowing our local offerings.”

Establishing halal-certified warehouses is part of Blibli’s broader strategy to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and reliability in order fulfillment. This development follows a recent Cooperation Agreement with the BPJPH, which involves integrating a halal product databank accessible via Blibli’s platform.

Muslim consumers in Indonesia can now more easily locate and purchase halal-certified products through Blibli Hashanah, a curated selection assured by rigorous warehousing practices that comply with the Halal Security System (HAS 23000). “As Indonesia’s first halal omnichannel trade ecosystem and a leading lifestyle platform, we are dedicated to continuously enhancing our services across all sectors,” stated Sindu Sirat, VP of Supply Chain Management at Blibli.

Blibli’s dedicated team ensures that every aspect of the warehouse operations, from processes to personnel training, meets the operational standards essential for maintaining halal integrity. “Our goal is to provide peace of mind for our customers, confirming that every product handled and shipped from our warehouses preserves its halal status,” Sirat added. This commitment is part of how Blibli provides products and storage services for halal-certified warehouses, reinforcing its leadership in the industry.

Blibli’s commitment reinforces its role as a pioneer in Indonesia’s e-commerce and significantly contributes to the country’s reputation as a burgeoning leader in the global halal industry.
