PETALING JAYA, 5 October 2026 – Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC) today announced the appointment of Hanisofian Alias as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 1 October 2026.
Hanisofian has served as Interim CEO of HDC since earlier this year. He previously held the position of Chief Industry Development Officer, where he oversaw industry governance, industry and market development, sector competitiveness, knowledge management and international cooperation.
A member of HDC since 2008, Hanisofian brings extensive experience in halal industry development and private-sector management. He has played a key role in building Malaysia’s halal ecosystem and advancing the organisation’s industry and international cooperation initiatives.
Before joining HDC, he spent 13 years with a multinational company, where he gained experience in new product development, manufacturing operations, supplier quality management and innovative project management, including initiatives to improve quality, productivity and cost efficiency.
Hanisofian holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electronics from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
As Interim CEO, he led HDC’s engagements with domestic and international stakeholders, with a focus on halal trade facilitation, investment linkages, market access and strengthening Malaysia’s connectivity with regional halal markets.
His appointment ensures continuity in HDC’s efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s halal ecosystem and support the implementation of the Halal Industry Master Plan 2030, particularly in enhancing industry competitiveness, with emphasis on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), market access, investment and international cooperation.
HDC remains committed to its role under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) in developing an integrated and competitive halal ecosystem and supporting Malaysian halal industry players as they expand into domestic and international markets.
