Inspection Identifies 32 Brunei Food Outlets Operating Without Halal Certification

Officials from the department urgently appealed to food outlet operators without either the Halal Certificate or the Halal Permit, urging them to forward their applications to meet the legal requirements promptly.

Failure to abide by these regulations could potentially lead to severe repercussions. Noncompliant operators could face legal action, resulting in penalties that include a fine of up to BND8,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or in severe cases, both.

The department also issued a reminder to holders of the Halal Certificate and Halal Permit. It underscored the necessity of maintaining the validity of their certificates and permits and submitting their applications for renewals at least three months before the existing ones expire.
