Iran and Indonesia have initiated a significant stride in bolstering their cooperation in the vital domain of halal standards. The Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (INSO) and the National Standardization Agency of Indonesia (BSN) recently convened on the sidelines of the 18th General Assembly Meeting of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) in Saudi Arabia, laying the foundation for an enhanced partnership in the realm of halal standards.
During these pivotal discussions, Mr. Mehdi Eslam-Panah, the Head of INSO, acknowledged Indonesia’s profound significance as a nation that houses more than 12 percent of the world’s Muslim population. He underscored Indonesia’s rich experiences and expertise in the halal sector, presenting a ripe opportunity for Iran to learn and benefit from.
This burgeoning alliance promises to usher in a new era of collaboration, not only between these two nations but also within the broader international halal market. By combining their strengths and resources, we anticipate the development of more comprehensive and harmonized halal standards, solidifying both Iran and Indonesia as influential players in this critical industry.
Separately, during a celebration of Indonesia’s 78th Independence Day held at the Parsian Azadi Hotel in Tehran on September 21, the Indonesian Ambassador to Tehran, Mr. Ronny Prasetyo Yuliantoro, highlighted the enduring historical and cultural ties that bind the two countries. These ties have evolved into a dynamic partnership encompassing an array of sectors, including trade, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
Ambassador Yuliantoro emphasized the indispensable role of government-to-government cooperation in nurturing their bilateral relationship. He highlighted their mutual commitment to addressing challenges and opportunities through the principles of mutual respect and understanding, ensuring a bright and prosperous future for the two nations.
As these nations continue to foster their bonds and expand their horizons, the collaborative endeavors between Iran and Indonesia hold the promise of shaping the global halal landscape, creating benefits that extend far beyond their own borders. This cooperative venture stands to not only enhance halal standards but also strengthen the halal trade landscape for both nations, positioning them prominently on the international stage.
