The Malaysia halal industry, with its rich history and proven track record, is once again poised to bolster local businesses and ensure their robust participation in the international arena. This commitment to global expansion is not new; over the years, Malaysia has consistently demonstrated its dedication to promoting its halal industry on the world stage.
In the past, initiatives such as the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) and the establishment of the Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) have played pivotal roles in positioning Malaysia as a global halal hub. These efforts have paved the way for local businesses to tap into the multi-trillion-dollar global halal market.
This year, the spotlight is on the Malaysia Halal Expo (MHE) 2023, which runs from Friday, September 1 to Sunday, September 3. The expo, a veritable feast for consumers, offers a glimpse into the expansive world of halal products. Moreover, it serves as a clarion call for local entrepreneurs to seize the myriad opportunities on offer.
Under the banner “Empowering Local for Global Sustainability”, MHE2023 aims to harness the capabilities and potential of local halal businesses. The focus is not just on the products they bring to the table, but also the invaluable services they provide.
A staggering 123 companies and organizations are participating in this year’s expo. These include a diverse mix of Muslim and non-Muslim exhibitors, underscoring the inclusive nature of the halal industry. Attendees can expect a vast array of halal offerings, spanning sectors such as food and beverages, education, cosmetics, e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, tourism, banking, finance, and fashion.
Selangor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living director Mohd Zuhairi Mat Radey, speaking on behalf of Deputy Minister Senator Fuziah Salleh, highlighted the significance of MHE2023. He emphasized its role as a source of inspiration for local businesses, urging them to broaden their horizons and venture into international markets.
The expo has attracted significant international attention, with over 40 business delegations from countries including Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Vietnam. “We have set an ambitious retail sales target of RM4 million for this expo. This presents a golden opportunity for increased business collaborations between local enterprises and international delegates,” Radey remarked during the inauguration of MHE2023 at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Visitors to MHE2023 can look forward to a plethora of activities, ranging from cooking demonstrations and makeup contests to latte art showcases. For families, the expo promises a fun-filled experience with attractions like a giant inflatable playground and a petting zoo.
The event also boasts participation from renowned brands such as Mustika Ratu, Subway, DPIM, Public Bank, Affin Bank, and Air Selangor, to name a few. Their presence is a testament to the expo’s stature and the immense potential of Malaysia’s halal industry.
In conclusion, MHE2023 is not just an expo; it’s a testament to Malaysia’s unwavering commitment to championing its halal industry and local businesses on the global stage. As history has shown, with the right support and opportunities, the sky’s the limit for Malaysia’s halal entrepreneurs.
