Kazan, Tatarstan – May 19, 2025 – As the global halal market surges, Russia’s leading quality assurance body, RusQuality, seized the spotlight at KazanForum 2025 to announce bold strides in expanding its internationally recognized halal certification. Marking its 10th anniversary, RusQuality is driving innovation and collaboration to meet soaring demand for halal products and services, from the Middle East to Asia, according to its head, Maxim Protasov.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency on the sidelines of the high-profile economic forum in Kazan, Tatarstan’s dynamic capital, Protasov outlined RusQuality’s vision to streamline global trade for Russian exporters. The organization’s halal certification body, accredited by Rosaccreditation and established under a Russian government decree, has secured recognition in key markets, including the Gulf states, Pakistan, Algeria, and several CIS countries. “Mutual recognition of our certificates eliminates costly re-certification in importing countries, saving time and resources for exporters,” Protasov said, addressing a critical barrier in the fast-growing halal economy.

The global halal market, encompassing food, beverages, tourism, and finance aligned with Islamic principles, is projected to reach trillions in value by 2030. KazanForum 2025, a premier platform for fostering economic partnerships, underscored this potential with the grand opening of a dedicated halal market at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center. RusQuality certified the venue as fully halal-compliant, a testament to its rigorous standards and commitment to quality.
Protasov highlighted RusQuality’s innovative Muslim Friendly Standard, a certification for tourist accommodations designed to cater to Muslim travelers. “From prayer facilities to halal dining, certified hotels create a welcoming environment for Muslim guests worldwide,” he explained. This initiative positions Russia as a rising player in halal tourism, a sector gaining traction alongside traditional halal food exports.
Founded in 2015, RusQuality has built a reputation for excellence through certifications in halal, organic, vegan, and functional foods. Its Russian Quality Mark, reintroduced by President Vladimir Putin, is recognized by 85% of Russian consumers and is gaining international acclaim. With over a dozen Competence Centers, the organization is a powerhouse of standardization and consumer trust.
At KazanForum, RusQuality strengthened its global partnerships, collaborating with the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) and the Interstate Technical Committee to harmonize halal standards. “Our standards align with all four main Islamic madhhabs, ensuring universal acceptance without adaptation,” Protasov noted. Looking ahead, RusQuality plans to deepen ties with Asia and the Middle East, expanding its expertise in halal and organic certification.
The Forum itself buzzed with energy, drawing policymakers, business leaders, and innovators from across the globe. Protasov described it as “a vital platform for forging win-win partnerships and exchanging expertise.” The halal market’s opening ceremony, attended by dignitaries and industry pioneers, showcased Russia’s growing influence in the sector and set the stage for new trade agreements.
As RusQuality celebrates a decade of impact, its efforts at KazanForum 2025 signal a bright future for Russian halal exports. By bridging markets and upholding ethical standards, the organization is not only meeting global demand but also shaping the next chapter of the halal economy.
