What is Halal Marketing – Everything You Need to Know?

2022-09-28 by Shahar Bano

Halal Marketing is a business model based on the idea that Muslims’ religious beliefs influence their purchasing habits. As a result, Islamic principles and rules are strictly adhered to in all promotional efforts. Everything from making broad marketing choices to developing, communicating, and delivering goods and services to clients falls under the realm of Halal marketing.

While Shariah-compliant procedures have been in place for a long time, Halal marketing is a more recent phenomenon. Muslims all over the globe are steadfast in their pursuit of consuming only Halal goods and services. It is important to inquire about the ingredients of any items they are going to eat and avoid those that don’t adhere to Islamic law.

Aspects of Halal Marketing

To help you promote your Halal business, I’ve outlined the four most important aspects of Halal marketing below

1. Hikmah

The Islamic concept of hikmah is synonymous with the concept of wisdom. It means you can accurately assess the circumstances at hand and make educated decisions. Thus, “Hikmah” should be used consistently in marketing goods or services to Muslims.

2. Collective Agreement

For a commercial deal to be legitimately considered “collectively agreed,” all parties involved must be free from coercion, fraud, dishonesty, and other similar forms of illegality. In an article published on these pages, “How to Market Halal Certified Products,” we discussed various marketing strategies for Halal products.

3. Requirement

According to Islamic teachings, one’s consumption should be limited to what’s essential. Hence, Halal marketing focuses on fulfilling a genuine need, whereas traditional marketing appeals to consumers’ desires.

4. Welfare

The Islamic notion of welfare refers to achieving complete and total success in both this world and the next. Therefore, it is not limited to monetary success. It’s possible to go there if you have genuine faith and do good things.

With this principle in mind, companies will prioritize people’s well-being alongside financial success. All of a company’s selling efforts ought to reflect this.

Stages of Marketing Process

As part of the marketing process, I’ve outlined the following five stages. The internal workings of this process are crucial, even if the outside aspect doesn’t change.

  • Look through your demographic analysis again. Learn the most critical information about the emerging HALAL industry, its consumers, and what the opportunities are.
  • Remember that their market positioning is obviously toward HALAL when you rework the brand.
  • Customers’ devotion to your brand will be directly proportional to the value you provide to them.
  • Maintain your marketing focus with the usage of HALAL-friendly channels.
  • Quantifying the results: The standard piece of advice is to track everything in marketing so you know what to do next

What the World Can Learn from Halal Marketing?

For Muslims, providing goods and services is about more than making a buck. It’s also about doing one’s part to help the community. Yes, profit is acceptable and even encouraged, but it shouldn’t be the only motive behind doing business.

In business, ethics are more essential than profits. The methods are never acceptable if the final goal is to be achieved. It follows that Halal Marketing will never resort to dishonest means to get people to purchase products they don’t need. Further, it does not motivate them to incur debt that would inevitably lead to monetary hardship.

Instead of focusing just on financial gain, Halal marketers should aim to increase societal benefits.

The practice of Halal marketing is a certain way to prosper in all areas of life, not just the monetary ones. Establishing economic and social justice in all aspects of human existence requires prioritizing the well-being of all members of society.
