2019-06-27 by Hafiz M. Ahmed

amin-malik-shahThe Halal Times staff met with an impressive personality called Dr. Amin Malik Shah Abdul Majid in Kuala Lumpur at the Malaysian International Halal Showcase.  He is a scientist engaged in curing cancer by using herbal medicines. When he mentioned the kind of research work he was doing, we asked him to provide more information about the cancer research he was conducting and how his herbal medicines could benefit cancer patients in Malaysia and around the world.

Following is a transcript of our discussion with him.

Q: Could you please let us know a bit about yourself and the research you have been conducting to cure cancer?

Ans: I have served academia for almost 20 years in the field of cancer research. My earlier research focus was on the development of novel chemotherapeutic compounds that are more targeted with lesser side effects. Later on, I came across several terminal cancer sufferers who were using herbal remedies to treat their disease and surprisingly with some level of success. I hypothesized that some of these remedies may be acting via a mechanism that was not commonly explored in herbal plant research. I then started researching herbal plant extract for cancer treatment by targeting tumor blood supply a process called angiogenesis.

Using a state-of-the-art drug discovery platform I came across a unique plant species that were commonly consumed by the local community. Using sophisticated formulation technology we were able to transform the herb into a highly effective but safe anti-tumor agent which was much more superior to many pharmaceutical products available based on our laboratory studies.

When my research work was publicized in the local media we attracted several terminal cancer patients from local hospitals who volunteered to try the product. The outcome was phenomenal with many of the patients went into complete remission. The Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture was impressed with our research and funded our full clinical studies for breast and colon cancer. We are now in the advanced stage of the clinical study and are about to carry out further trials in the US.

This if successful will make this medicine the world’s first botanical drug approved by the USFDA for the treatment of breast and colon cancer. During our clinical research, we also found other health benefits of our product particularly for metabolic diseases such as gout, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, etc. We managed to obtain approval from the Australian Therapeutic Goods administration for some of these related ailments as complementary medicine. We established our very own advanced herbal drug manufacturing facility using custom-made equipment. We also set up a nonprofit research institute to further improve and develop botanical medicine. Our company is now established in Australia and Malaysia.

Q: What herbal medicines are you offering?

Ans: One of the major benefits of our product is its natural ingredients. Our herbs are carefully planted using hydroponic plantation technology to ensure the active compounds present in this herb are at their optimum level. No herbicides or pesticides are being used on our plantation. Other than ensuring the ingredient and the manufacturing processes are halal, we also spend a lot of money to ensure that the product is safe and effective. We have taken extreme measures to ensure our products comply with these requirements. Each manufacturing batches are painstakingly analyzed for their active ingredients and also for their biological activity and safety. Is imperative for halal product to be safe. We have obtained halal certification from Malaysian and Australian regulatory authorities both are very stringent in their requirements.

Our products are designed for the medical industries particularly medical practitioners that demand the highest level of scientific evidence to support the medical claims that come with our products. Safety and efficacy are the two key aspects that we take great pride in our products. That is the very reason why we establish our very own research institute with researchers from all over the world to help to improve the quality of our products. Our multi-national research team that spans half the globe has worked tirelessly to come up with this product.

Our complementary medicine for metabolic conditions is currently available in Australia in certain clinics. We have also launched our online store to help patients to gain access to our products. Our cancer drug product is still undergoing clinical trials. We will be releasing two products, Nuvastatic and Census-5 as a cancer supplement to help to reduce chemotherapy-induced side effects and also decrease the risk of cancer recurrence by August this year.

Q: What are your plans?

We are looking for pharmaceutical distributors all over the world to help to provide access to our medicine to patients.
