Imagine connecting with industry giants like Datuk Hanafi Sakri from MITI and MATRADE’s Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican at this game-changing event, targeting RM4.5 billion in trade. Running September 17–20, 2025, MIHAS 2025 follows 2024’s record-breaking RM4.3 billion in sales and 43,000 visitors from 90 countries. Organised by MATRADE under MITI’s oversight, MIHAS has emerged as a cornerstone of Malaysia’s strategy to lead the US$3 trillion global halal market, which is projected to reach US$5 trillion by 2030. The event’s significance lies not only in its scale but in its innovative approach to trade facilitation. Central to this is the Madani Digital Trade (MDT) platform, launched in March 2024. Powered by artificial intelligence, MDT connects businesses, matches trade partners, and streamlines cross-border transactions, with a particular focus on empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This digital infrastructure reflects Malaysia’s broader ambition to blend tradition with technology in its pursuit of halal excellence.

“Malaysia has held the top position in the Global Islamic Economy Indicator for a decade, driven by strengths in Islamic finance, halal food, and media,” said Datuk Hanafi Sakri at the launch. He highlighted the halal industry’s projected contribution of RM231 billion, or 10.8% of Malaysia’s GDP, by 2030. “The global appetite for ethical and sustainable products is growing, and Malaysia is uniquely positioned to meet that demand.”

The launch comes at a time of heightened global trade tensions, with recent tariff impositions posing challenges to exporters. Yet, MATRADE Chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican expressed confidence in Malaysia’s resilience. “We remain committed to achieving at least 5% export growth, contributing to our RM1.58 trillion target for 2025,” he said. The theme of MIHAS 2025, “Pinnacle of Halal Excellence,” encapsulates this resolve, showcasing Malaysia’s innovation and leadership while fostering collaboration across ASEAN’s diverse markets.

MIHAS 2025 will feature 14 industry clusters, ranging from food and beverages to pharmaceuticals, Islamic finance, modest fashion, and Islamic art. The event will also host business matching sessions, networking opportunities, and seminars on emerging trends, offering a platform for stakeholders to explore new markets and partnerships.

Malaysia’s halal ambitions extend beyond its borders. Following a successful international edition in Dubai in 2024, MIHAS will make its next global appearance in Shanghai at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in November 2025. The Shanghai edition will showcase halal products tailored to the Chinese market, from food and cosmetics to pharmaceuticals, aiming to forge connections between international suppliers and Chinese distributors. “This is a strategic move to tap into one of the world’s largest consumer markets,” said Reezal Merican, underscoring the potential for halal products to gain traction in China.

MIHAS 2025 is more than a trade show; it is a testament to Malaysia’s ability to align cultural values with economic innovation. For businesses, it offers access to a rapidly growing market driven by demand for ethical consumption. For investors, it presents opportunities in a sector with robust growth projections. And for policymakers, it reinforces Malaysia’s role as a global leader in the Islamic economy.

As the countdown to September 2025 begins, MIHAS stands as a beacon of opportunity, inviting the world to engage with Malaysia’s vision for the future of halal trade. Further details on participation are available through MATRADE.
